Carol Hutchison

–

The Acreage, Florida

Carol J. Hutchison, lovingly known to all as “Momzee,” lived a life defined by courage, devotion, and love for family. Born in 1934 in the hills of Blount County, Tennessee, she grew up surrounded by a large extended family, country traditions, and the simple joys of a close-knit rural community. Even from her earliest days, Carol carried with her a spirit of determination which would shape a life filled with extraordinary adventures.

As a young woman, Carol embraced every opportunity that came her way. Whether working as a seamstress for the GI’s or balancing trays as a carhop on skates, she greeted each day with energy and optimism. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, a tall blue eyed soldier, "Hutch", whose presence lit up her world the moment she opened the door. Their love story began instantly and beautifully, leading to a marriage that became a lifelong partnership rooted in adventure, loyalty and shared purpose.

Carol’s life with Hutch allowed her to live around the world; Germany, Thailand, Alaska, China, Saudia Arabia and the Marshall Islands—and she approached each new place with courage and determination. No matter where she landed, she created a loving home for her family. Her children grew up knowing that their mother could adapt to anything, find joy anywhere, and make each new location special. Her steadfast devotion to her family and her ability to bring a sense of belonging to every corner of the world became hallmarks of who she was.

Those who knew Carol will forever remember her warmth, her storytelling, and her love and devotion to her family. Whether she cared for family, supporting her husband’s endeavors, or offering comfort and encouragement to her children, Carol gave of herself wholeheartedly and without hesitation. She was a natural caregiver and cared for her grandmother, mother, stepfather, and husband when they could no longer take care of themselves. She helped them transition from this life to the arms of God.

Later in life, after traveling the world many times over, Carol returned to Maryville Tennessee, the place where her story began and where her heart always remained. There, she found peace in familiar mountains and the place of her birth in Happy Valley. She continued to share her wisdom of world travel, humor, and grace with her children and new neighbors.

Carol lived a life rich in love, loyalty, and unforgettable experiences. Her legacy is one of resilience, compassion, and the deep warmth she brought to every life she touched. Her children will carry forever the feeling of being loved, protected, and uplifted by her presence. She was the best mom we could ever hope to have.
