With unimaginable heartbreak, we share the passing of our beloved son, Christopher Gonzalez, age 18, of West Palm Beach, who left us on August 5th, 2026.
Born on January 17th, 2008, Christopher filled every room with joy, laughter, and an unmistakable light. As a little boy, he was known for his chubby cheeks, his huge smile, and his talent for accidentally breaking just about anything -- earning him the nickname "Bam Bam." Even in his earliest years, his curiosity and drive were impossible to miss. Christopher was always thinking, always planning, always trying to build something of his own. In elementary school, he began his entrepreneurial journey by selling candy bars on the school bus, proudly celebrating every time he sold out. He once told me that collecting aluminum cans "was too much work for too little money," but he never stopped trying to figure out how the world worked. He wanted to feel important, capable, and proud of himself -- and he succeeded. He was an honor student, a recipient of multiple Presidential Awards, and despite his dislike for homework, he was consistently an A student.
Middle school was the time when Christopher began discovering who he wanted to become. He cared deeply about friendship, loyalty, and honesty. He didn't befriend everyone -- only those he felt were genuine, because that's exactly what he offered in return. During these years, he explored his style, tried different hairstyles, and found his place among his peers. Christopher was blessed with a loving older brother who guided him, and a younger sister he would have defended with his life. They argued, they laughed, they made up -- and that bond was one of the things I cherished most about him.
Christopher recently graduated from Dr. Joaquin Garcia High School and was excited to begin his next chapter at Palm Beach State College. He took it upon himself to enroll, attend orientation, and apply for grants and student loans -- showing us that he had truly grown into a responsible, determined young man ready to take on the world. His interests had evolved, too. He became passionate about fitness, nutrition, and surrounding himself only with people he trusted and loved -- people who trusted and loved him back. He taught himself how to drive, how to be responsible, how to be respectful, and how to be an extraordinary son.
Christopher was blessed to have his mother, Beatrice, by his side throughout his school years. She worked at every school he attended, quietly supporting him while respecting his wish to keep their connection private so he wouldn't receive special treatment.
Though Christopher's life was far too short, it was undeniably full. His smile, his charisma, his energy, and his unforgettable personality touched everyone who knew him. There will never be a day when he is not missed. He will forever live in our hearts, and there will never be a moment when we do not love him.
Christopher is deeply loved and will be forever missed by his father, Berto; his mother, Beatrice; his brothers, Jonathan and Gabriel; his sisters, Leslie and his "favorite sister," Sophia.
