James D. Cote, a lifelong Florida native, was born December 1, 1955, in Miami, Florida. Jim passed away August 25, 2026, while hospitalized at Martin North Hospital in Stuart after a long illness. He was 70.
Jim was the son of Adelard and Helen Cote, formerly of West Palm Beach, both of whom predeceased Jim. He was also preceded in death by his big brother, buddy, and partner in all manner of adventures, John D. Cote. He is survived by his children, Michelle Lee (John), Sean Cote, Kristy Cote Nossa (Carlos) and Justin (JJ) Cote, his grandchildren, Casidee Lee, Hayden Lee and Oliver Nossa, his sisters, Patricia E. Harris (Jack) and Kimberly Cote, nieces and nephews, including Dianne Harrison (Matt) and Michael Harris.
Jim worked his entire life in the sheet metal and shutter manufacturing business, beginning in his teens and spending his last, and he would say best, years at Eastern Metal Supply. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed attending concerts, surfing (especially in his youth), fishing, walking the beach, and cheering on his beloved Miami Dolphins (his most treasured possession being a commemorative mug from the Dolphins' 1972 unbeaten season, gifted to him by a friend). He had a deep appreciation for nature and treasured the peace and beauty his home state provided for him. He was a kind man who will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held on September 6, 2026, at the Sailfish Marina & Resort, 98 Lake Drive, Palm Beach Shores, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Lakeside Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Royal Palm Beach, Florida.
