Obituary of Uel Thomas
Uel Edward Thomas was born on March 13, 1934 in Christiana, Jamaica. He was the second child of the late Rudolph Thomas and Olga Goodwin. He attended Christiana Moravian Primary School before entering into his life-long career in farming, masonry, and carpentry. Uel became a believer in Christ a few years before marrying Sylvia Abigail Thompson in 1960. Uel and Sylvia’s union produced 12 children. During this time, Uel pastored a congregation. Following Sylvia’s death in 1987, Uel turned his talents toward teaching Sunday school.
In the early 1990s, Uel met Cynthia Gayle, through his long-time friend Victor White. In 1995, Uel and Cynthia were married, and Uel immigrated to Evanston, IL with his two youngest children. Uel worked in the US for three years before retiring, due to illness.
In 2011, when Cynthia passed away, Uel moved to Florida. He resided with his family until he had to be cared for by a nursing facility. In 2015, he moved back to Illinois. His last place of residence was in Edwardsville, IL.
On November 24, 2017, Uel entered his eternal rest. He was preceded in death by two siblings George and Clovis May and daughter Donna Edwards.
