What Direct Cremation Includes
We bring your loved one into our care from the place of death, whether that is a hospital, a nursing facility, or a private home. From there we handle refrigeration and storage, file the death certificate and the medical examiner's permit, notify Social Security, and carry out the cremation in a basic alternative container.
Someone answers our phone at any hour of the day or night, so the first call can be made whenever it needs to be made. Once your loved one is in our care, nothing further is asked of you until the cremated remains are ready to be returned.
Remembering in Your Own Time
Because no service is attached to a direct cremation, the timing of any gathering is entirely up to your family. Some hold something small within the week. Others wait a month or more so that relatives can travel in from out of state.
An online customized obituary page is included either way. Friends can read it, leave condolences, and share their own memories, which matters a great deal to the people who cannot be here in person. What Can Be Added
Direct cremation covers the essentials and nothing more. Permanent urns, certified copies of the death certificate, and embalming are not part of it, and any of them can be added. Many families order certified copies right away, because banks, insurers, and the Social Security Administration will all ask for one.
